To setup UTM tags for Capterra Ads follow the steps below: 

  1. Login to your Capterra admin panel. Click on Your Account  and  Account settings 

2. Click on Source Tracking  to create a Source Tracking Key, Select 'Enable source tracking for all URLs', enter utm_source text in the field and save. By doing this Capterra will automatically update the utm_source based on which platforms users are coming from (Capterra, GetApp, SoftwareAdvice).


3. To setup the rest of the UTM values go to Listings  > Product Listings. You will need to add UTM values for  utm_medium , utm_campaign. Here are the rules you need to pay attention to:

  • utm_medium = cpc  for all URLs
  • utm_campaign needs to be equal to the name of the category you are advertising. Category names are written with first letter capitalisation and spaces are replaced with +  For example, for category name Membership Management , utm_campaign = Membership+Management
